The name Gustaaf goes back to the name of an apartment building that our owner maintained together with his daughter.
There is also a well-known Mechelen inhabitant, Gustaaf van Hoey, who was even given a street name. Gustaaf van Hoey was a well-known composer and carilloneur.
Did you know that the City of Mechelen schedules a series of carillon concerts every summer? You can then follow the music playing from the St. Rombouts tower. Our tip? Take a seat on the lawn of the Wollemarkt next to the statue of Opsinjoor, where you will find the best acoustics. Afterwards you can finish off with a drink at sunset on the Zuiderterras, only a 10-minute walk through the beautiful Begijnhof.
