Your dreamwedding in a unique setting
The four-star Van der Valk hotel in Mechelen is housed in a beautiful, historic building that was realized at the beginning of the 20th century in a neo-Flemish Renaissance style. Over the years, the building has served as a customs building and municipal swimming pool.
Since 1997, the building has been protected as a monument and after being vacant for 15 years, it was completely renovated between 2017 and 2019 and transformed into a unique hotel with 124 rooms, a restaurant and 7 impressive halls. The old swimming pool has been preserved and serves now as a beautiful ornamental pond in the courtyard.

Wedding halls
Are you dreaming of a big wedding party or would you rather keep it intimate? Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen has both large and small event rooms.
In 'Rubens', a magical atmosphere is created with its historic character, high ceilings and tall windows. It is therefore the most chosen room for weddings. The adjoining event room ‘Keizer Karel' overlooks the beautiful Patio and is often used for receptions.
'Petrus' is completely surrounded by windows on one side, which gives you a wonderful view of the Patio and the ornamental pond. When the windows are open, you even have the feeling that you are on the Patio. With its 140 m², this room is ideal for both small and large weddings.
Rubens, Keizer Karel and Petrus can be combined to our largest room, ‘Peruk’, with a surface area of 530 m².
During the summer months, there is also the impressive outdoor location 'Patio'. The Patio is the ideal place for an open-air wedding reception. When the weather is nice, you can even dine around the ornamental pond.
Dance party
Would you like to end the most beautiful day of your life with a big party? Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen has a DJ booth including a mixing table and a dance floor wich allows you to party until the early morning! We can recommend various DJs who will make your wedding party a great success! Prefer a singer, band or musician? Everything is possible.
Food and drinks
Together we'll look for a catering formula that suits you. You can choose from a multi-course menu, a buffet, a barbecue or a walking dinner. Beforehand, we provide delicious, varied snacks during the reception and afterwards the extensive dessert buffet is always a great success! For the wedding cake, we work together with Meynendonckx who will gladly fulfill your wishes. Our chefs can also provide a midnight snack so everyone is full of energy to dance the night away.
Decoration
Do you have a certain style in mind or would you rather choose from a few examples? At Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen, you can choose the table settings, the decoration and the flowers. You are completely free to work with your own partners or ours.
Staying the night
After a successful wedding party, you can stay the night at Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen. For the wedding night, people usually opt for the Presidential Suite, our most beautiful and luxurious suite equipped with a king size bed, a double rain shower and bathtub in the room. All guests can also stay overnight at a nice discount.
